Originally opened in 1766, Bristol Old Vic is the country’s oldest continuously working theatre, making it a magnificent venue for a wedding, with endless possibilities to make your event truly remarkable.
Couples will feel like stars in their own theatrical production as they celebrate the most important day of their lives at Bristol Old Vic, a venue that has played host to some of the country’s most famous actors, from Daniel Day Lewis and Jeremy Irons, to Patrick Stewart and Judi Dench. The centrepiece of the venue is the Grade I listed Coopers’ Hall, originally built as a Georgian banqueting hall in 1744, which is being restored to its former glory. With its high ceilings and huge over-arch windows, expect the elegantly-renovated hall to quickly become one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Bristol when it reopens in Autumn 2018. Pre-dating the theatre itself, Coopers’ Hall has had a rich and colourful history over the years having been a public assembly room, wine warehouse and Baptist chapel. It was incorporated into the theatre’s foyer during the 1970s, and this autumn will be the first time in over 40 years it can be experienced as it was originally intended. The room can cater for up to 120 formally-seated guests and 200 for standing and theatre-style events. Bristol Old Vic has teamed up with another local institution, family-owned Fosters which is one of the leading caterers in the South West, to deliver an exceptional culinary experience for wedding parties. Overseen by chef director Tom Green, who worked with Michelin two-starred Michael Caines and was head chef at the highly acclaimed Riverstation restaurant in Bristol, the menus will feature the highest quality fresh and locally-sourced produce. If you really want to take the spotlight, you can say ‘’I do’’ on centre stage, with the main auditorium seating up to 550 friends and family!
Located on the iconic King Street in the centre of the city, Bristol Old Vic is at the beating heart of Bristol’s vibrant cultural scene, and well placed for travel and accommodation options. Bristol Old Vic is only one mile from Bristol Temple Meads station and less than 9 miles from Bristol International Airport.
